Martinus Hjermstad, for nearly half a century a respected citizen of Goodhue County, passed away at his home in Kenyon, Tuesday evening, May 11, at 6:15 o'clock at the age of 87 years. He had been in failing health for sme time past, but was able to be up and around until the first of the week. His death was attributed to heart disease.
He was born in Norway in 1828 and came to America in 1866, first settling in Belle Creek township. The deceased leaves three sons and two daughters: Hans M. Hjermstad of Hader; John M. Hjermstad of Red Wing; Martin M. Hjermstad of Kenyon, and Mrs. M. D. Danielson of Zumbrota.
