Notes for Walton Eugene Kyllo
Walton E. Kyllo died on the morning of Wednesday July 29, 2009 at his home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Aspelund with Reverend Martin Horn officiating. Burial will take place at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Mahn Family Funeral Home- Larson Chapel, Zumbrota and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Walton Eugene Kyllo was born on May 15, 1925 in Ellington Township to Elmer and Eleanor (nee Brandli) Kyllo. He graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1943. He then went to work for K O Severson, helping with the farming and he later worked for Fossan Hardware and Implement. Walton married Margaret Goodman on May 12, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island. The couple began to farm near Aspelund until 1965 when they moved to Belle Creek Township. They continued to farm until they moved to Wanamingo in 2000. Walton was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Aspelund, where he held various positions on the church board, he was also on the Board of Directors for the Farmers Co-op in Wanamingo, and he was a Belle Creek Township Clerk for many years. Walton enjoyed farming, going up north, deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.
Walton is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret "Peg" of Wanamingo; 4 children, Ronald (Karen) Kyllo of Goodhue, Katherine (Dale) Hadler of Goodhue, Paul (Susan) Kyllo of Byron, and Sara (Tom) Haugen of Goodhue; 3 brothers, Orion (Idella) and Maurice "Bud" (Edith) Kyllo both of Wanamingo and Charles (Donna) Kyllo of Owatonna; 6 sisters, Avis Erlanson of Wanamingo, Marlene (James) Haller of Sun City, AZ, Mary (Dennis) Schmitz of New London, Eunice (Bill) Roberts of Maplewood, Stella (Stu) Morton of Sun City, AZ and Susan Herboldt of Sun City, AZ; sister-in-law, Mavis Kyllo of Wanamingo; brother-in-law, Donald Schmitz of Norwood; 12 grandchildren, Douglas (Brandi) Kyllo, Todd (Mandi) Kyllo, Jennifer Kyllo, Elizabeth (Jay) Cannon, Kimberly (Karl) Gronvall, Marna Hadler, Rachel Kyllo, Carolyn Kyllo, Annette Kyllo, Amy Kyllo, and Michael and Karl Haugen; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Palmer and Marvin "Pete" Kyllo; sisters Florence Howie, Shirley Schmitz, and infant sister, Marna Kyllo.
