Florence Christine Callstrom, 95, of rural Red Wing died on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Loving Residence in Red Wing.
Florence was born on September 30, 1914 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, the daughter of C. Arthur and Inez (Mark) Sjoquist. Florence grew up in the Spring Garden area and attended country school. Florence was united in marriage on June 20, 1936 at Spring Garden Lutheran Church to Carl Oscar Callstrom. The couple farmed in White Rock until Carl's death on November 7, 1985. Florence was a member of Spring Garden Lutheran Church and she enjoyed quilting, embroidery, cooking, and trying new recipes and spending time with her family.
Florence is survived by children Carol (Jerry) Thun of Arvada, CO, Kay (Roger) Kurtti of Goodhue, Curtis (Jean) Callstrom of Red Wing, Elaine (Richard) Scharpen of Red Wing, Richard (Alice) Callstrom of White Rock, Marianne Ehlen (Tom Nelsen) of Star Lake, Beverly (Steven) O'Reilly of Goodhue; 21 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; one grandson, Craig Kurtti; one great-granddaughter, Mary Huneke; one sister Muriel Tritten; and one brother Harold Sjoquist.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2010 at Spring Garden Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls with Reverends Nick and Cindy Fisher-Broin officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and also one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Casketbearers will be Mike Kurtti, Daniel Callstrom, Brady Scharpen, Tony Breuer, Zachary O'Reilly, and Adam Callstrom. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the church or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
