Clarence (C.J.) Vangsness died April 25, 1988 at his home in rural Kenyon.

Mr. Vangsness was born March 19, 1903 in Minneola Township, Goodhue County. On Dec. 28, 1925 he married Esther Foss in St. Paul. The couple farmed in North Dakota from 1925 to 1936 when they returned to the Kenyon area to farm in Wanamingo Township.

Clarence is survived by his wife Esther, sons Leverne and wife LaVerne of Kenyon, Clayton at home, and Dwain and wife Beverly of Adams; eight grandchildren, David of Owatonna, Steven of Colorado, Karen, (Mrs. Randy Trom) of Green Bay Wi, Craig and wife Mary, Arden and wife Trudy, Brian and Eldon Vangsness, all of Kenyon, Marlis, (Mrs. Jon Stehr) of Zumbrota; five great-grandchildren, Katherine and Troy of Kenyon, Mathew of Kenyon and Amanda and Rachel Trom of Green Bay WI; also one sister Celia (Mrs. Rudolph Hostager) of Wanamingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday April 29, 1988 at Holden Lutheran Church, rural Kenyon with the Rev. Michael Lockerby officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Craig Vangsness, Arden Vangsness, Brian Vangsness, Eldon Vangsness, Steven Vangsness and David Vangsness.

Esther J. Vangsness, a longtime area farm homemaker, died of natural causes January 14, 1992 at her home in rural Kenyon.

Born Esther Foss on March 26, 1904 in rural Kenyon, she married Clarence Vangsness on Dec. 28, 1925 in St. Paul. They farmed in North Dakota until 1936 and then in Wanamingo Township, Goodhue County for many years. Her husband died April 25, 1988. Mrs. Vangsness was a member of Holden Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Chorus.

Esther is survived by sons Leverne and wife LaVerne of Kenyon, Clayton at home, and Dwain and wife Beverly of Adams; eight grandchildren, David of Bloomington, Steven of Colorado, Karen, (Mrs. Randy Trom) of Green Bay WI, Craig and wife Mary, Arden and wife Trudy, Brian and Eldon Vangsness, all of Kenyon, Marlis, (Mrs. Jon Stehr) of Zumbrota; ten great-grandchildren; one sister Edith Hjermstad of Kenyon and two sisters-in-law, Borgny Foss and Celia Hostager, both of Wanamingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Peter and Selmer and her husband Clarence, on July 25, 1988.

Funeral services were held Saturday January 18, 1992 at Holden Lutheran Church, rural Kenyon with the Rev. Michael Lockerby officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Craig Vangsness, Arden Vangsness, Brian Vangsness, Eldon Vangsness, Steven Vangsness, David Vangsness and Jon Stehr.
