Alvida Juella Loken was the daughter of Alfred and Jonetta (Lund) Loken. She attended Zumbrota High School, and Winona State University, becoming an elementary teacher.

Alvida Loken, 65, a lifelong resident of the Zumbrota area, died Friday, March 25, 1977, at the Zumbrota Community Hospital. She was born January 18, 1912, in Minneola Township to Alfred H. and Jonette (Lund) Loken.
Miss Loken graduated from teacher training in 1931 in Cannon Falls. She received her two year degree from Winona, taking night and summer courses. She also received her bachelor's degree from Winona.
When the Zumbrota School District consolidated in 1951, Miss Loken had been teaching in the rural school for 20 years. It wasn't until 1953 that there was room for her in the Zumbrota Elementary School. She remained here, teaching third grade for 23 years, until her retirement in 1976.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Phillip (Helen) Nerison, Goodhue; two nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Monday at Lands Lutheran Church, with Pastor Alton Larsen officiating. The Zumbrota High School and Elementary School were dismessed 10 minutes early on Monday to enable former students and co-workers to attend the 3:30 p.m. services. Burial was in Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were: Eugene Smith, Rolf Lund, Ronald Lund, Obert Loken, Alvin Steberg jr. and Luther Fjelstad.
